After 5 years and 50,000 miles across 23 US States, we two are sooo happy to be on the home stretch with our first film, “Moments of Truth” coming out this year.
Back at Green Gulch farm, I photographed some on my favorite subjects with a new approach. Sometimes photography helps me to see the world a bit differently. On this occasion, hidden personalities emerged in kinetic moments, and they sang and danced.

An interesting juxtaposition at the local library...I’m still puzzling over the shelving relationship between puppeteering and bull fighting. And how does this relate to the Moments Of Truth Project you might ask? According to the sources I’ve found, the phrase “moment of truth” first surfaced in Hemingway’s book about bull fighting titled “Death In the Afternoon.“ I hadn’t known of this origin when I selected the project’s title, the choice derived more from photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson’s description of the “decisive moment” and from the idea of action revealing what is true in each moment more than received wisdom, dogma or beliefs. From the start I envisioned the Moments Of Truth Project focusing on human experiences and actions across the full spectrum of our activity, following along with people to understand how our actions and personal experiences reveal something larger about our collective world. The decision to launch this project three years ago was a moment of truth all its own, and now the project’s first feature-length film is almost done. This little camera and I have seen some action. In many settings I film with a larger camera, but the size of this little guy has helped me enter places and follow people while filming without making anyone uncomfortable. From beauty shops, fishing docks and horse racing paddocks to farms, country fairs and a livestock sales yard, I never hide the fact that I am filming, and if the camera is ever unwelcome, off it goes. During the project travels throughout the U.S I have found those occasions to be rare, and the chance to peer inside the experiences of others has been a privilege I look forward to sharing in the project’s first feature length film, now nearing completion. #documentaryfilmmaking #behindthecamera #filmmaking #filmmaker #momentsoftruthproject #goprostories #mygopro
